Fallout New Vegas: How do I get into the Nellis Air Force base?

I need to get into the boomers either to neutralize them or make them help ceaser's legion for the battle of Hoover damn. I walked up to the gate and they ignored me, I tried going threw the train tunnel too but that didn't work either. HELP MEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
