How socially awkward am I?

I'm 16 and I'm kind of a nerd. I'm pretty decent looking I'm not fat or anything and I dress normal but I'm so intimidated by all the popular people that when I started high school I suddenly became really quiet and I used to be popular in middle school but now I only have a small handful of friends. I don't really text anybody unless I absolutely have to, I don't go on face book that much because feel that no one really wants to talk to me, I haven't flirted or talked to any boys because I'm really shy. Is anybody else going through this awkward phase like me? Oh and one more thing I barely ever hang out with anybody.
