What are the benefits of knowing fluent French (motivate me please)?

For me the hardest part of learning French has been the grammar and when to use the subjunctive. I understand that French is a good language to learn if you are going into business. It is easier to learn a third or fourth language once you pick up a second language. The idioms in other languages are different from English idioms and I found many of them entertaining, so I've gotten some laughs from learning French. From a more personal standpoint, if I had not learned French, I would not have been interested in visiting France, thus it would have been unlikely that I would have ever visited Mt. St. Michel.
